8. Conclusion
It's safe to say, that thus far, this journey of 'blogging' has been a huge dose of jolly fun! I may well have rustled up various Blyton bakes before, but a full-blown Blyton themed tea party? This was a first! To have enjoyed this with my oldest childhood friend and our own children and family, really was the icing on the cake to a scrumptious afternoon of nostalgia. It will be repeated soon, to be sure. There are plenty of recipes from Allegra McEvedy's book we've yet to get to...Then we must get cracking on Five Go Feasting with 'famously good recipes' for picnic dining!
I hope I have gone some way to illustrate to you lovely readers the enjoyment and impact Enid Blyton had on me as a child. And how, even today, I am able to recapture those memories and enjoyment through the re-reading of her books and the plentiful food within them.
Whilst the descriptions of food and the nostalgic journey it takes me on is a key aspect of this blog, my aim has also been to think about the different food items within the varied genres of her novels, the setting of where these foods are consumed and the discussion and revelation behind the deeper meaning of the food she describes. This combination of food items and fiction is what made the books so appealing to me years ago and the magic formula still succeeds in tickling my taste buds today.
Long live Enid Blyton food!
